How did my view of life beyond high school change or develop during my time as an intern?
The learning never stops. At some point, I thought that after college there wouldn't really be much more learning, it would just be using the knowledge you have, learn how to do the job you are hired at, and that would be it. But honestly, the learning doesn't stop... we are, after all, learning every single day of our lives. I know that everything I do now is going to be affecting my future, and that's why it's really important to build these connections now so that I'll have some sort of backbone when all support is pulled out from under me and I'm thrown into the working world. It's all going to build up, and I need to make my web of connections now if I want to get anywhere beyond high school.
How might internship influence the direction of your life?
For some time I thought that doing art and design might not be the most stable job, even if I was planning to pursue it anyway. Seeing what Tony does, including my other coworkers like Ms.Katinka, has really inspired me to really go and pursue art. Working at BFG for these past three weeks really didn't feel like work. It was fun and nice, and something I wouldn't mind doing every day. I know that whatever I want to do-- and I know it's going to be something with art-- I'm going to be able to make a living from it, and no horror stories from people who don't believe in me and my ability is going to scare me away from it.
